Team Delta has reportedly emerged as the overall winner of the 22nd National Sports Festival, tagged “2025 Gateway Games,” held in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The festival, which ran from May 20 to 30, 2025, featured more than 15,000 athletes competing across 38 sports. Delta State continued its dominance in athletics, swimming, combat sports, and team events.

This marks what is expected to be Delta’s fourth consecutive title, pending the NSC’s final medal audit. Governor Sheriff Oborevwori credited the state’s success to strong grassroots development and athlete support. Bayelsa is projected to finish second while the host state, Ogun, is expected to finish third.

Official confirmation is expected by mid-June, following a routine review of event results and compliance.
