Bobby Ibo

Creative Spotlight: Bobby Ibo

Bobby Ibo is a multifaceted creative; he sings, skates, and does sound engineering. He recently went on tour with Odumodublvck on the Greatest School Tour, where he performed alongside the Anti World Gangstars, Wizard Chan, Ajebo Hustlers, Vector, and others. In this interview, we talk to him about his career, Odumodublvck, and more.

Your sound is quite vast. How would you describe your soundscape?

Bold, Intimate and Cinematic. If I had to paint my soundscape visually, it would look like a red-lit room with shadows dancing on the wall, smoke in the air, and a mirror reflecting a person standing tall, unfiltered, expressive, sexy, but still searching for more.

Being an all-around creative, how do you balance making music, production, sound engineering, and skating?

Honestly, I sometimes feel overwhelmed by all the things I’m capable of, but God maps out my journey. I just move in alignment with His will for my life.

This year has been great for you. Tell us about the tour with Odumodublvck?

Odumodu gave me one of the greatest gifts ever, the opportunity to do what I love with ease and take it on the road. The vibes, the people, the banter; AWG is family. Every 2 to 4 hours daily, he would always ask about my welfare. Above all, it reminded me of the importance of God in everything. He made all of this possible.

Tell us about the process of making BTC with Odumodublvck, how you met him, and the song being your first to reach 1 million streams on Spotify.

Towards the end of 2024, OD hit me up while he was in ATL. He told me about a track he was working on called BTC and asked if I could vibe on it. I was like, ‘Vibe ke? Ogbeni, just send the song!’ And he did.

Fast forward to January 2025, I recorded my verse at Ucee’s studio with my guys around. Unbeknownst to me, the sound engineer had already sent a snippet of my verse to OD. By the end of the session, OD called me, hyped, saying the verse was crazy. Funny enough, I first met him back in 2017 at a park in Maitama, right after wrapping up a photoshoot. Life really comes full circle.

How much did the collaboration with Odumodublvck impact your artistry?

What the Lord has done for me, words can’t fully capture. Just know it’s changed my life completely. He multiplied my catalogue and increased my Spotify monthly listeners tenfold. The real-life impact has been nothing short of insane. God is love for real.

How would you describe your style of music?

I call my style of music ‘SAM’: Sweet Ass Music. My main genres are hip-hop, Afro-fusion, and combo music, but that flexibility lets me explore and borrow elements from anywhere. So if you hear me on a rock, R&B, or softcore track tomorrow, don’t be surprised. It’s all God’s work. I’m just the vessel.

How much does skating mean to you?

As Asake said, it’s truly a lifestyle. It’s Immeasurable, to be honest. I love skating like kids love ice cream.

Have you at any point thought of sacrificing music for skating or the other way round?

The correct answer to this question would be NEVERRRRRR!!!!!!

Do you have any body of work you would like the fans to check out, and would you be releasing an EP or album this year?

I already have a body of work out titled Family, Friends & Food, which includes my debut single Alapomeji. Later this year, I’ll be releasing an EP, which will be my second official body of work.

Who are the possible featured artists that would be on it?

I’ve got some of the dopest artists from my skating community on this Trusttha Process, Gr8nes Voke, and a special guest feature you won’t see coming.
