49th Exclusive; Meet Busy, Plutomanians Number 1 Producer

Saheed Abeeb Samuel, popularly known as Busy Pluto, a music producer from Edo state, has made waves in recent times by producing chart-breaking sounds for the Pluto president, Shallipopi. In today’s interview with Dom Alonge, he talks about his journey so far as a music producer, and shares exclusive experiences with us.

What does music mean to you?

To me, music is my life. It is my life.

Your producer tag, Busy, how did you come up with it?

I have this friend, his name is Kaybleak. One day, I was playing the keyboard while we were at the studio and he just called me ‘Busy Fingers’. After then, I had to take the name because I loved the Busy in the name. Then I had to add the pluto in the front. That was how it came about .

How long have you being doing music?

I have been doing music for about ten years (10yrs), but officially, two years (2yrs).

What encounter did you have during your early days that made you certain that you were on the right track as a music producer?

Firstly, I would say I am a lover of music. There was a time I was confused about how music was made, I had to make some research and I found out they needed to go to the studio, create a beat and all that. So, I learnt how to play the keyboard at first then I would start making beats on the keyboard in the church. Afterwards, I had to do further research to see how they made it work out. Then I got this software called FL studio. From the first day I opened that software, I knew I wanted to be a producer.

Do you have any projects or EPs coming out soon? Personal projects or for others?

Yes, I do. I have a personal one I am working on. Then, I have some features and EPs for other people that I wouldn’t want to mention.

Is there anyone you haven’t collaborated with yet, but if the opportunity comes to collaborate with them, you would definitely jump on it?

The thing is, I would love to collaborate with anybody. I can be on anybody’s vibe.

What’s your most memorable experience so far as a music producer?

That would be when Elon Musk debuted as number 1 in the country. The reception was crazy!

We have seen your synergy (collaborative power) with a couple of artistes that appeal a lot to street audience; do you think you would ever have a period where you would produce something totally different from this niche that you have created for yourself? Like RnB beats for international artists?

Definitely. If you check my catalogue you would see that I have actually produced some songs that are not street street wise. The sound is more than just the street, the street is like the main focus but the sound is more than the streets because there is a whole lot more to Busy than the streets. So, definitely in the nearest future I would be producing big records. There is going to be some RnB, Hip pop and the rest. If you check our last studio album you would see that there were varieties of general music on the album, there was hip pop, afro beats, varieties of different genres of afrobeats.

Describe to us what you love most about working with our pluto presido, Shallipopi? We all about your synergy with him. We believe that both of you are like rice and stew, but what do you think is the most enjoyable thing about working with him and can you describe a studio session with him?

First, we are brothers so there is definitely an amount of connection that is meant to be there. Working with him is fun because through the whole process you must laugh. It’s not all serious And it is snappy and quick because he writes and records on the spot, so it is not like he would write now and record later. So I would say it is quick, fun and exciting.

Is there any artist right now that you are cooking with that nobody really knows about that you are sure the collaboration would shock people?

There are a few names that I wouldn’t like to mention, but yes they are people that I am working with right now.

There’s a lot of conversation online about been signed to a label and working independently. What is your take on this?

For me, I would say, just go for what works for you because I might tell you that this is how it is and it might not work for you. So just go for what works for you and always read your contracts. Get a lawyer to review your contracts.

Is there any music producer, locally or internationally, that paved a way for you? Inspired you through this career path?

I would say Sarz and I would also say Timbaland. Those guys are amazing. They motivated me a whole lot.

If you weren’t into music, what else would you be doing?

For me it has always being music. It was the only plan.

Can you give us a rough sketch of your best produced songs by yourself?

I would say number one, Obapluto, because what I wanted to achieve for that song I actually achieved it. Then, Ex-Convict, Cast, Puff n Pass (ZerryDL), 365 days (TML Vibez).

What’s one thing people don’t know about you?

I love cycling. I am actually talented in that sport.

Should still expect more collaborations between you and the pluto boys this year?

Definitely, more bangers are coming.

Any last words for your fans?

Never stop believing in yourself. It is all love from here.
