Emerging star Daso (pronounced day-show) is back with a song and video for his latest release, “Lekki.” Daso initially appeared on the scene earlier this year with his first single, “Jara” which generated traction globally with over 125K streams across all platforms and over 10K creations on Tik Tok in under six months. Now, the gifted artist has released a new single, which is aptly described as a celebration of his roots and the neighbourhood of Lekki, Lagos.
“Lekki” offers a glimpse into Daso’s everyday life, as he welcomes growth. The coming-of-age track celebrates how he has evolved into a man that’s taken full reins of his narrative and is comfortable in his own skin and ready to face the storm ahead. The accompanying music video shot in Lagos in collaboration with director Zamani Istilferus and cinematographer Mr. Movies. The video gives an immersive listening experience, depicting a day in the life of the artist. The video also features various recognizable monuments around Lekki including the Lekki-Ikoyi bridge. Daso is the proud posterboy of his heritage and community, by putting his neighbourhood in the spotlight.
