In an unexpected turn of events, the Nigerian Super Eagles lost to their Rwandan counterparts in the beautiful city of Uyo.
Although the Nigerian team had already qualified for the AFCON tournament next year, the match with Rwanda in front of the home fans was meant to be the final icing on the cake. However, the team crumbled and could not see out the game after taking the lead through Chukwueze in the 59th minute. Obviously, our early lead sparked the away team, and within minutes, they restored parity and eventually took the lead until the final minutes.
The Nigerian head coach, Austin Eguaveon, has more work to do ahead of the tournament next year, with the team’s issues pretty evident yesterday. Overall, with 3 wins, 2 draws, and a loss, the Nigerian team heads into the Nations Cup hoping to build on the second-place finish from the last tournament.
