For the first time since 1973, Enugu state will be hosting the National Sports Festival. The South Eastern state has been announced as the host for the 23rd edition of the renowned sports event.
The National Sports Festival, which occurs biennially, is a multi-sports competition bringing together athletes from the 36 states in Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, in national unity to compete and celebrate sportsmanship.
Since the festival’s inception, the industrious state of Enugu emerged as a winner amongst other states after a competitive bidding process by the National Sports Competition’s top management meeting. This marks their first appointment as a host to deliver a stellar event that would uphold the festival’s legacy while enhancing the state’s image and fostering the nation’s unity in the spirit of sportsmanship.
