Netflix reassures Nigerians of its commitment to Nollywood amidst rumors of leaving.

According to a Netflix spokesperson, Netflix is not leaving Nigeria. “We are not exiting Nigeria. We will continue to invest in Nigerian stories to delight our members,” said a source from the Netflix team.

The news of Netflix leaving Nigeria went viral earlier today, Wednesday, December 4th, 2024, with multiple posts claiming the movie/series streaming giant was leaving the country after eight years of expanding its reach to Nigeria since 2016 and four years after launching ‘Netflix Naija,’ a way of announcing its full presence and dedication to the Nigerian market and Nollywood at large.

The debunking of the rumor of Netflix leaving the Nigerian market shows Netflix is fully committed to the Nigerian film and creative scenes and Nollywood, dedicated to telling and sharing stories from Nigeria. In the past few years, Netflix has been behind some of the biggest Nigerian movies and series such as *Lionheart,* *Blood Sisters, Aníkúlápó, Far From Home, and many others.

With this reassurance, we can eagerly look forward to more compelling stories and outstanding productions that reflect the heart and soul of Nigeria.
