Shoday Solomon Segun, popularly known as Shoday and often referred to as “The Billion Boy,” is a refreshing breath of fresh air in the dynamic Afrobeats music scene. Hailing from the vibrant city of Lagos, where entertainment thrives, he has rapidly risen to prominence through his distinctive musical voice.Shoday’s journey began with content creation, but he soon discovered his true passion in music making and songwriting. This led him to embark on his musical journey, releasing his debut single “Dey 4 You,” followed by “Sweet Year” and “For You.” These early releases paved the way for his breakthrough hit, “Caution,” in 2022. This infectious song, a blend of love and vibrant vibes, showcased Shoday’s impressive vocal range and melodic sensibilities on a smooth mid-tempo Afropop instrumental.
Following the success of “Caution,” Shoday diligently built his music career with a string of impressive releases. These included a remix of “Caution” featuring the renowned Skiibii, along with numerous singles such as “Maradona,” “Self Respect,” “Melanin,” “You,” and “Girls Hostel.” He further solidified his position with the release of his debut EP, Brkfst, which featured a guest appearance from the superstar, Bella Shmurda. Shoday’s talent has also been recognized by industry heavyweights. He has been featured on several prominent projects, including DJ Neptune’s “Greatness III,” DJames’ “Grateful,” Rexxie’s “BIG TIME,” and Olatop Ekula’s “Hope to The Trenches Vol 2.”
Building on the success of his 2024 debut EP, Shoday kicked off 2025 with a series of electrifying live performances. He captivated a massive audience of 25,000 at the Mainland Block Party fest in Lagos and delivered an unforgettable performance at Bella Shmurda’s fest in Ibadan.
With his impressive 2024 run and a strong start to 2025, Shoday has solidified his position as a rising star in the Afrobeats scene.
