The Egyptian winger came on as a substitute in Liverpool’s UCL group stage fixture against Rangers FC and completed his treble in 6 minutes and 12 seconds, breaking Bafétimbi Gomis’ record.

Mo Salah is the highest-scoring African player in Premier League history, having netted 184 league goals across 292 league appearances. He deposed Chelsea legend Didier Drogba as the previous record holder. Additionally, he has recorded the highest number of assists by an African player in EPL history, 86 assists. 

Once he receives the ball on the right wing, Salah is fond of sending the opposition full-back into brief retirement, cutting in onto his left foot and unleashing an unstoppable effort into the net. A move Liverpool fans are all familiar with. He has recorded the most left-footed goals in Premier League history: 149 goals. Currently, he is the sixth-highest goal scorer in EPL history. He is the highest-scoring African in UCL history, outscoring the likes of Didier Drogba and Samuel Eto’o. The Egyptian winger is the record holder of the most Champions League goals for an English club, piping Didier Drogba and Sergio Agüero to the prestigious record. Salah has netted 44 Champions League goals for Liverpool during his time with the Reds so far.

He also set the record for the most left-footed goals scored in a season, having netted 25 of his 32 goals with his left foot. 

Salah was unstoppable in the 2017/2018 season and he became the first player to outscore three Premier League teams in a Premier League season outscoring West Bromwich Albion (31), Swansea City (28) and Huddersfield Town (28). He remains the only player in PL history to do so.

His 2017/2018 season remains one of the greatest individual seasons in PL history. His stunning performances helped him secure three Premier League Player of the Month awards in the 2017/2018 season, picking up the award in November 2017, February and March 2018. He is the joint record holder for the most PL Player of the Month awards in a season, alongside Marcus Rashford. 

Liverpool’s Egyptian King can boast of being the record winner of the PFA Fans’ Player of the Year award, winning at the end of the 2017/2018, 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 seasons. Considering the form he has been in, he is on course to extend his record at the end of the season.

Deserving of his title as the Egyptian King, Salah holds a number of records for the Egyptian National Team. He is Egypt’s all-time highest scorer in FIFA World Cup history as he netted two goals at the 2018 World Cup. He shares the record with Abdulrahman Fawzi. 

Salah also remains the first and only Egyptian player to score in four consecutive Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, netting for The Pharaohs at the 2017, 2019, 2021, and 2023 editions as Egypt finished as runner-ups in the 2017 and 2021 editions, losing to Cameroon and Senegal respectively.

He is the only player in Liverpool’s history to net 20+ goals in eight consecutive seasons across all competitions, having never failed to net 20+ from the 2017/2018 season to the 2024/2025 season.

Salah holds the record for the most goals scored by a Liverpool player in a debut season. He netted 44 goals across all competitions in a record-breaking debut season with the Reds in 2017/2018, breaking Fernando Torres’ record of 33 goals. Additionally, he set the record (alongside Roberto Firmino) for the most European goals by a Liverpool player in a season, having netted 11 goals in Liverpool’s 2017/2018 UCL campaign.

Salah is Liverpool’s top goalscorer in Premier League history with 180 goals. He became the outright record holder in March 2023, surpassing Robbie Fowler’s record of 128 goals. He is the third-highest goal scorer in Liverpool’s history, having overtaken Gordon Hodgson this month. He is the only African player in Liverpool’s top ten goalscorers of all time.

Despite playing most of his Liverpool career as a winger, Salah’s goal-scoring record is one even seasoned goal-scorers will envy. He is the fastest player to score 50 league goals for Liverpool, doing so across 65 games for The Merseysiders, breaking Torres’ record once again in the process. 

He also set the record for most goals in a player’s first 100 appearances across all competitions for the club, netting 69 goals to eclipse the long-standing joint record held by Roger Hunt and Sam Raybould. He set the record for most goals in a Liverpool player’s first 100 Premier League appearances, having netted 70 goals to break Torres’ record of 63 goals. 

Additionally, he is the fastest player to score 100 league goals in Liverpool history, having completed his century in 151 appearances to eclipse Roger Hunt’s record with one game. 

EVERYTHING HE TOUCHES TURNS TO GOALS

Salah opened the 2022/2023 season with a goal and an assist against Fulham FC, becoming the first player to score in the opening game of six consecutive Premier League seasons, further extending his previous record. Salah is the only player in Liverpool’s history to net a century of Premier League goals at Anfield. His current tally stands at 101 goals. 

He is also Liverpool’s highest-ever away goalscorer in the Premier League, having netted 79 goals away from home. He is on track to record his best-ever season in a Liverpool shirt this season. He has already set the record for most away goals in a single Premier League season for Liverpool with 16 goals so far and the most assists in a single Premier League season for Liverpool with 17 assists in the 2024/2025 season.
