Folu Storms stands as a remarkable testament to the art of reinvention within the dynamic sphere of media. Born  Afoluwake Ogunkeye, Folu Storms has cultivated an extraordinary career that spans various disciplines, including radio hosting, television presenting, acting, law, and production. Her diverse talents have solidified her status as one of Nigeria’s most influential media figures.

Folu’s journey began in Lagos, Nigeria, where she laid the groundwork for her career with an impressive educational background. From her secondary school in Lagos to Aberystwyth University, where she earned a law degree. To further enhance her qualifications, she pursued a diploma in broadcast journalism from the esteemed Pan-African University, which honed her storytelling abilities and broadcasting skills.

Diving into the world of broadcasting, Folu quickly made her mark through her time at 92.3 Inspiration FM. Her engaging presence and insightful commentary led her to co-host the widely listened-to Breakfast Show on Smooth 98.1 FM, where she connected with audiences daily. In addition, her work on Ndani TV allowed her to expand her reach.

Folu’s media expertise culminated in the impactful production of The New Africa Documentary in 2016, a project that explored key themes about the continent’s growth and potential. This documentary received critical acclaim, winning the prestigious Best Documentary award at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA), further establishing her reputation as a producer with a vision for meaningful storytelling.

While her radio work laid the foundation for her vocal prowess, her step into acting showcases her versatility and depth as a performer. Folu gained widespread recognition for her role as Sope in the critically acclaimed series MTV Shuga in 2019. This role was particularly significant as it addressed pressing social issues, contributing to an impactful dialogue among viewers. Her portrayal reached new heights during the COVID-19 pandemic when she reprised her character in the innovative online mini-series MTV Shuga: Alone Together in 2020, illustrating her ability to adapt to the changing media landscape.

In addition to her celebrated role in MTV Shuga, Folu has expanded her acting by portraying Kamsi in the Africa Magic Original series Unmarried and taking on the character Kelechi Farasin in the drama Crime and Justice Lagos. Her film credits include various projects, such as Man of Her Dreams, Rule Number 1, Cake, and Baby Farm. Most recently, she starred in the highly anticipated Nollywood movie Red Circle (2025), where she embodies Fikayo Holloway, a journalist unraveling a complex and gripping story.
