Bundesliga Club Bayer Leverkusen has permanently signed Senegalese centre back Abdoulaye Faye from Swedish Club BK Häcken. The 20-year-old centre-back had been on the German club’s radar for a while, and they’ve finally got their man. Left-footed and tactically adept, the 6 ft 3 in Faye’s agility and excellent ball distribution skills make him an exciting signing for Die Werkself. The German Club plans to loan the youngster out immediately to accrue professional experience and hone his skills.
Abdoulaye Faye will be new Bayer centre back, deal agreed last week as revealed.

The Senegalese defender signed for Swedish top-flight side Hacken from Senegalese Academy Diambars FC in 2023 and was loaned out to Swedish second division side Örgryte IS in 2024, making 22 appearances for the Superettan club. Despite making just six top-flight appearances for Hacken, he is highly rated and considered a hot prospect by Leverkusen.
His signing aligns with the German club’s policy of signing exciting, youthful talents, developing them, providing a progression pathway within the squad, and turning them into big stars. It remains to be seen if the young Faye is poised to surpass his retired compatriot and namesake Abdoulaye Faye, who also played as a centre back in Europe and the Senegalese national team.
