Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Ghanaian winger Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United for a reported £55m fee.
Kudus signed a six-year contract with the 2024/2025 Europa League winners, boldly swapping East London for North London. The 24-year-old winger was a subject of interest for Chelsea and Newcastle; however, he had his heart set on a move to Tottenham. He is now the most expensive Ghanaian footballer in history.
Signed from Ajax in 2023, Mohammed Kudus was an instant hit in East London, sweeping fans and opposition alike away with his technical brilliance, mesmerising skills, and magical goals. Kudus spent two seasons with West Ham, netting 13 goals and providing nine assists across 65 Premier League appearances for the Hammers. After an excellent first season in England, his form declined last season, and he struggled to meet expectations. His stuttering form can be linked to the unfamiliar roles he was tasked with playing in West Ham’s injury-plagued front line, the club’s wobbly form, and repeated managerial changes.

A player destined for football’s biggest stages, Kudus declared his delight and satisfaction with his new club: “How big the club is, the history and the Champions League as well, so it’s a big moment. I’m very happy and can’t wait to start.”
“One of the most important parts of why I came here is the project and how the manager sees it, and to develop under him. With the history of where he’s come from, I’ve seen the amount of talent he’s developed to become great players.”
West Ham fans can look back fondly on his stunning solo Maradona-esque goal against Freiburg, which saw him win the 2023/2024 UEFA Europa League goal of the season award, alongside his catalogue of jaw-dropping goals.
Mohammed Kudus is an exciting signing for a Spurs side aiming to bolster their squad that finished 17th in the Premier League last season and compete even more against the big guns in the UEFA Champions League next season. Left-footed and skillful, he has an apparent preference for the right flank, but he can also be deployed in a central position to devastating fashion for Spurs. He will light up Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with his fiery brilliance in the coming seasons.
