A few weeks back, I stumbled upon the official trailer of Susan Pwajok’s upcoming film on YouTube, which was exclusively created for YouTube. Of course, it drew my attention, and I watched it. Right after that, I added Lowkey Adults to my watchlist and looked forward to its release.
The movie by Susan Ganchung Pwajok, TV and Hello July Film is finally here, starring Susan Ganchung Pwajok, Omosalewa Fafowora, Shamz Garuba, Mallum Arik, Adeoluwa Akintobi, with brilliant directors, Fatimah Binta Gimsay and Stephanie Dadet, alongside executive producers, Susan Ganchung Pwajok and Fatima Binta Gimsay.

LOWKEY ADULTS takes us into a young adult’s life at the university. Many can testify that being a young adult at university usually comes with lots of exploring or adventure, as I will describe it in my own way. So we have three main characters, Jaiye, Korede, and Hamza, with assisting characters Itohan and Chisom. Before we get deeper, this hour-long movie was basically a 5-character movie with short appearances from a ‘side chick’, a true side character in this story of coming-of-age kids in university.
Although the storyline feels a bit basic, a cool twist emerged. First, I thank the directors for not making the little surprise package obvious from the very beginning. The performance by Jaiye, the main character, was impressive for an emotional young girl navigating her love life with her best friend Itohan, who seems to have quite an experience in the game of heartbreaks.

Among the male characters, standout performance came from Korede, who happens to be really enjoying his role as a crazy, braggadocious ex who doesn’t want his ex but still wants to be a pest to her because why was he poking in her life in silly ways, very naughty. Hamza also seems like a future character that would dominate the loverboy scenes in Nollywood movies.
Though it might feel like I just broke down only the main characters, remember it’s a five-character movie. With the main performance aside, I firmly believe that Chisom and Itohan deserve their story out there, with an unexpected, mind-blowing direction from the writers and directors, hopefully in a part 2. The cinematography won’t be left unspoken, as it is the movie’s core. It was pretty impressive, with perfect angle shots and cool post-production color grade, all in simplicity.

Final thoughts for this movie, first thing first, shoutout to everyone that contributed to the success of the movie as a whole and its production, the arrangement of each event in each chapter was brilliant, I feel it could be a perfect YouTube series, just like the Nollywood hit YouTube series, All of Us. LOWKEY ADULTS shows us the “pepper dem” and “do me, I do you” games on our screens, and there are more stories to tell. Hopefully, we will get part 2 soon.
