SUPER FALCONS CAPTAIN RASHEEDAT AJIBADE JOINS PSG ON A FREE TRANSFER

Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of Super Falcons Captain Rasheedat Ajibade on a permanent deal from Atletico Madrid on a free transfer. The Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2024 MVP penned a two-year contract with the French Giants, bringing her four-and-a-half-year stint with Atleti to an end.

Rasheedat Ajibade began her career at 13 with FC Robo Queens in the Nigerian Women’s league, establishing herself as a prodigious talent early on. A move to the Norwegian top flight with Avaldsnes IL materialised in 2019, and she departed Nigeria to commence her European sojourn. The WAFCON ’22 Top Scorer joined Atletico Madrid from Norwegian club Avaldsnes IL in January 2021, clinching Copa de la Reina & Supercopa de España titles in La Liga Femenino. She made 25 appearances in the 2024/2025 season, scoring 8 goals and providing 3 assists.

She links up with WAFCON ’24-winning teammate Joe Echegini in Paris and is excited about lining up with her sister in the French Capital. PSG has a special connection with Nigerians due to Nigerian football icon and club legend Jay-Jay Okocha.

Ajibade couldn’t contain her happiness in signing for PSG feminines, expressing her delight at the move in an interview published on the club’s YouTube channel, saying,

I feel so excited. I am deeply honored to join Paris Saint-Germain, a leading club in Europe. This is a major milestone for me: I am committed to giving everything I have to help PSG win trophies and inspire young female footballers, both in Nigeria and beyond.

She added, “It’s a new challenge. Usually coming into this kind of a prestigious club, with amazing talent, amazing players, amazing people, it’s an opportunity to grow as a player and as a person, and a lot to learn, and I believe that it’s a place for me to evolve, to learn, and become the best version of me.

A leader on and off the pitch, Rasheedat Ajibade brings a wealth of experience, superb technical skills, and elite finishing abilities to the Campus PSG—a marquee signing for the French Club in all ramifications.

A full-fledged Nigerian international, Rash debuted for the Super Falcons in 2018 and has been a first-team regular in her hugely successful stint with the National team. She has represented Nigeria at two FIFA Women’s World Cups, three WAFCON tournaments, and the Olympic Games. She helped the Falcons to continental triumph at WAFCON ’18 and WAFCON ’24. She led the Falcons to a record-extending 10th WAFCON title in July with her superb performances, winning three player of the match awards and ultimately the Player of the Tournament award. She is a pillar of the Super Falcons, a mentor to the present & upcoming generations.

Rash’s journey has come full circle. Her story is inspirational, from the financial struggles and gruelling hardship she faced on the streets of Lagos to the French Capital. She’ll compete in the Première Ligue, the top division of French football, and the newly rebranded UEFA Women’s Champions League with Les Parisiennes.

Mu has provided immeasurable support to young boys and girls through her NGO, StandOut With Rash. She has provided kits and monetary gifts, empowered communities, sponsored education, and scholarships for Nigeria’s future. Bonne Chance en Rouge et Bleu Rash!
