HBO has announced that Music Box: Wizkid’s Long Live Lagos, a feature-length documentary about Nigerian superstar Ayodeji “Wizkid” Balogun, will debut on HBO and stream on Max on December 11, 2025.
Directed by Karam Gill and executive-produced as part of Bill Simmons’s Music Box series, the film traces Wizkid’s rise from Surulere, Lagos, to global stages.

The documentary, which premiered earlier this year at the Tribeca Film Festival, runs roughly 83–85 minutes and blends intimate interviews, behind-the-scenes access, and concert footage to trace Wizkid’s artistic journey and cultural impact.
HBO released an official trailer alongside the premiere announcement, highlighting personal moments and the buildup to Wizkid’s sold-out Tottenham performance, a pivotal scene in the film that underlines his crossover into stadium-level global stardom.

Producers and press materials frame Long Live Lagos as both a personal portrait and a larger conversation about Afrobeats’ rise on the world stage, positioning the film as part of a growing slate of projects that center African artists’ stories for international audiences.
The film’s HBO/Max premiere gives international viewers a chance to see the documentary after its festival run, and industry watchers expect the broadcast to broaden Wizkid’s reach even further while offering a high-profile record of one of Afrobeats’ defining careers.
