MoRich is a Nigerian born singer and songwriter who creates songs of the Afrobeats persuasion. The Delta-born youngster has been making music for a while now but on the 2nd of December, 2021, he released new tracks laden with the promise of ushering us into a new phase.
“New Phase” is a two-pack single consisting of two Afrobeat tracks rendered in a little over 4 minutes. MoRich drafts the help of Baby Beats and C Major for production of track 1 and 2 respectively, while Deedee Jojo lends his vocals as a featured artiste on the first song. Short and straight to the point, this offering is MoRich’s way of trying to win over new fans and show the old ones that he’s still got it.
“Bami Lo” is the first of the two songs and is a romantic medley rich in melodies. Deedee Jojo and MoRich combine excellently on a song that features lyrics from both singers pleading with their love interests to choose them over other suitors. The upbeat instrumental is catchy on its own, but the two artistes individual performances really takes the sound to a new height. Mixing and mastering is about as good as you would hope for and it all ties in together to create a musical plea their love interests would certainly not be able to refuse.
“La Liga” is next up and it matches the preceding track for level of upbeatness. C Major really goes in on the production of this instrumental, infusing elements of Amapiano into a robust sound with an Afrobeats core. MoRich chooses to discuss the good life in his lyrics, bragging about the depths of his pockets and his taste for flexing. His verses are short, but with a hook and beat as catchy as what we get on “La Liga”, MoRich did just enough on the verses.
“New Phase” is all about filing the listeners with good and positive vibes, and if that’s the direction MoRich will be taking his music henceforth, he might very well experience an influx of new fans with each release. The sound of this two-pack single panders to the taste of the average Nigerian listener and if he sticks to it, he only needs to keep improving his lyrics, delivery, and all-round artistry to accelerate his come up. “New Phase” is a good release with decent replay value, and one you won’t mind burning a few megabytes to stream on your preferred platform.
Verdict: 7/10
