AHMED MUSA APPOINTED GENERAL MANAGER OF KANO PILLARS, PROMISES RADICAL CHANGE

Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf appointed Super Eagles legend Ahmed Musa as the new general manager of NPFL giants Kano Pillars FC. The 32-year-old has been tasked with overseeing the new management board of his former club, which consists of 17 new board members. Musa’s nationally celebrated return to the NPFL last season was not enough to restore the club to its glory, as they slumped to a ninth-place finish in the league.

Following extensive meetings with key stakeholders, the Governor approved the overhaul and appointment of a new management board for Kano Pillars to strengthen their performance and elevate the team’s competitiveness. The outgoing board members led the Kano-based team to a 9th-place finish in the NPFL last season and have departed their positions upon the expiration of their one-year tenure. The newly reconstituted 17-member management board implements strategic changes to improve performance and reposition the four-time NPFL Champions in its rightful position among the league’s best. The governor expressed his confidence that by leveraging Musa’s wealth of experience, leadership, and connections, the club can consolidate itself as one of the heavyweights in the Nigerian league and compete for the big titles.

In a statement released on Tuesday by the club’s Media and Communications Directorate, Musa said:

Kano Pillars is our club and one of the most successful in Nigeria, but in recent years, the story has changed. I want to assure everyone here that with your support and the backing of the board members, I will do everything possible to reposition the club and make it one of the finest not only in Africa but globally. Having played here and with the experience I gained in Europe, I believe I can contribute meaningfully to help the club achieve its full potential,” he said.

“The inclusion of Ahmed Musa reflects our desire to blend administrative competence with football experience. We believe his presence will inspire players, attract investment, and rekindle supporters’ enthusiasm,” he said.

1. Ali Muhammad Umar (Nayara) – Chairman

2. Salisu Mohammed Kosawa – Member

 3. Yusuf Danladi Andy Cole – Member

4. Idris Malikawa Garu – Member

5. Nasiru Bello – Member

6. Muhammad Ibrahim (Hassan West) – Member

7. Abdulkarim Audi Chara – Member

8. Muhammad Danjuma Gwarzo – Member

9. Mustapha Usman Darma – Member

10. Umar Dankura – Member

11. Ahmad Musbahu – Member

12. Gambo Salisu Shuaibu Kura – Member

 13. Rabiu Abdullahi – Member

14. Aminu Ma’alesh – Member

15. Safiyanu Abdu – Member

16. Abubakar Isah Dandago Yamalash – Media Director I

A man fond of embracing challenges and conquering them bravely, Ahmed Musa is the right man to spearhead Kano Pillars’ quest to reconsolidate their iconic status in the NPFL. It remains to be seen if the Super Eagles captain will hang up his boots or serve in a player-manager capacity.
