AKWAABA SERIES VOL.4

With several recording artists issuing new releases on a daily basis, here is our pick of the best songs from emerging acts to come out of Ghana over the past few weeks.

The list is in no particular order.

Kirani Ayat – Yawa (@KiraniAyat)

Produced by AlmightyTrei with additional vocals from fellow rapper and long-time collaborator Akan, “Yawa” is alternative act Kirani Ayat’s sophomore single release of the calendar year. Over a resounding afro-infused production, the “Guda” hitmaker promises to turn to a new leaf, and pleads with his lover for another chance after being caught cheating.

Darkovibes ft Kwesi Arthur & Joey B – Confirmed (@Darkovibes)

Leading Ghanaian alternative act of La Meme Gang fame Darkovibes, serves up a picturesque David Duncan-directed music video for standout track “Confirmed” off his critically acclaimed debut album “Kpanlogo”. The song “Confirmed” which happens to be a fan favorite features A-list Ghanaian acts Kwesi Arthur and Joey B, and was produced by Supersmashbroz & GibDJ.

Camidoh – Maria (@Camidoh)

Produced Nektunez, afropop bop “Maria” has everything we have come to expect from a Camidoh record – sweet melodies, amazing vocals and a top notch production. On Maria, fast-rising singer adorns his lover Maria with words of endearment, articulating why he considers her one-of-a-kind. The beautiful love song is taken off Camidoh’s debut EP, “Contingency Plan”. “Maria” is aptly complemented by a J-Wills directed visual treatment.

Herman Suede – One By One (@HermanSuede)

Herman Suede’s trademark silvery voice and infectious melodies, coupled with S.Kool Beatz’s production prowess, makes upbeat afro-infused jam, “One By One” an irresistible bop! Renowned for churning out sentimental songs, “One By One” is surprisingly the 17-year-old’s only love-themed song released this year following earlier outdoored “Free” and “Star”.

Gyakie – Forever (@Gyakie_)

“Forever” is the second single off Gyakie’s debut “Seed” EP. Produced by Kros, the sentimental afro-pop number sees the burgeoning songstress reassure her lover of her feelings and loyalty. The song’s message is vividly brought to life by a rather simplistic Steven Asamoah directed music video.
