Grammy-winning Beninese music legend Angélique Kidjo has been selected to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, making history as the first Black African artist to be honored on the iconic boulevard.
The announcement was made by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce as part of the Walk of Fame Class of 2026, which also includes global stars like Miley Cyrus, Timothée Chalamet, and Deepika Padukone. Kidjo’s recognition celebrates her decades-long contribution to music, cultural advocacy, and humanitarian work.

A five-time Grammy Award winner, Kidjo is known for her unique fusion of Afrobeat, jazz, funk, and traditional African rhythms. Beyond her music, she is a vocal champion for girls’ education in Africa through her Batonga Foundation.
Reacting to the news, Kidjo wrote, “Thanks to all my fans who brought me here. This star belongs to Africa.” Her star unveiling is expected to take place in 2026.
