[Artiste Spotlight]: Dee3

49th

In an industry that seems to produce a crop of new artistes every other month, standing out amidst the crowd is getting more and more challenging. From talent to strategic planning, and perhaps a bit of luck, a lot is required to ascend the ladder of the music industry. A certain young artiste Dee3 seems to have all the aforementioned qualities and it’s little wonder he is quickly making a name for himself and catching the attention of many.

Born David Luka Dagwon, a lot of talent certainly comes with the package. He has been passionate about music for a long time, and by listening to the reigning mainstream artistes, he gained the confidence to try his own hands at it. He even had a stint in a boy band called NCN in his home town in Jos back in 2011. He spent a lot of time quietly improving himself and the quality of his most recent release is a testament to that.

As for the strategic planning, he has his record label, Bob Braine Entertainment, to thank for that. His bit of luck came when he caught the eye of the label in 2020 with the freestyle and cover videos on his Twitter timeline, and on seeing what he is capable of, they rushed to sign him up. He released his first single, “Tonight”, under Bob Braine Entertainment imprint in February, and with the efficiency of the promotion and distribution moves made by the label, a fanbase quickly formed and the industry stopped and took notice.

June came and he followed that with a 5-track EP titled G.A.L, an acronym for Give Attention and Love. On the romantic-themed project, he combined the lethal weapons of his sultry voice and smooth style on irresistible Afrobeat sounds to create 5 wonderful songs with heavy replay value. There are no features on the project but with production and engineering contributions from the likes of Telz, STG and Oxygen Mix, he already had all the help he needed.

With his skill level, the backing of a record label that believes in him, and luck continuing to be on his side, it’s almost certainly only up from here for Dee3. His debut project has already amassed a whopping 200+ thousand streams across streaming platforms, which is a good first step by any and every standard. If you haven’t already, now is the next best time to get on Dee3’s wave!
