Chimzy: The AfroFusion Adept

Chimzaram Omeni is a Nigerian Afro-Pop and Afro-fusion artist. His music is a testament to this diverse taste in music, which he cites as an inspiration for his sound. His sound is on par with the rising diversity in the Nigerian music industry.

Chimzy was born in Nigeria and lived in Abuja until 2015 when he relocated to the US for college. Furthermore, his love for music has been consistent as he’s been writing songs since he was in the 4th grade. It started off as a hobby or just something fun to do with friends. However, as he grew, it transformed into more of a passion, something he felt more seriously about.

As for inspiration, he was influenced by a lot of 60’s music and many other genres that he listens to. Moreover, he talks about his biggest inspirations in music: the people he watched from a young age trying to make it big, just like he is. He cites the group of people as the most influential and inspiring to his journey of becoming an artist are Benjay, Hoodini, TC, Tay Iwar, and Burna Boy as early as his ‘firewood’ days.

Chimzy wants to channel quite a lot in his music; he talks about wanting his listeners to connect with his music, making music invoke a special feeling. While, using it as a way to express his emotions. He really wants his listeners to have an exquisite experience, listening to his music, vibing and making memories.
