It feels really good when you find new, exceptional musical talent coming out of Lagos, Nigeria. That’s how we felt when we first listened to Choosy Cleen, who’s been making music since 2019 and has 3 singles to his name.
He recently released his first single of the year ‘Control’, Cleen showcases his vocal dexterity over a melodramatic beat. Rather than really letting himself off the leash, he instead decides to utilize a laidback flow that is full of intricate lyricism and addicting wordplays that will get you singing along as soon as you learn the lyrics myself. From start to finish, its safe to say this us a solid listening experience that rivals his contemporaries.
His range is not something that can be ignored on this one either, sometimes letting himself free to stretch his notes while using other moments to bring things a bit closer to Earth. As 2021 winds down, it’s easy to turn the creative side of your brain off, but this track will get feeling more energized to take control of who ever you’ve been fantasizing about (as long as consent is involved).
