Bundesliga Side TSG 1899 Hoffenheim FC have reportedly completed the signings of Nigeria teenagers Emmanuel Chukwu and Precious Benjamin from Grassrunners FC based in Ogun State, Nigeria.
The talented youngsters impressed during their trials at the German Club last year. Emmanuel Chukwu is a dominant presence at the heart of the defence, while Precious Benjamin stars in the attack.
The move was confirmed by Grassrunners FC CEO Gbenga Victor Agbejoye in a statement last week:
“Two of our players, Emmanuel Chukwu and Precious Benjamin have completed their top move to Hoffenheim FC of Germany. This is indeed a wonderful way to begin the New Year, and we are really very excited about this at Grassrunners.”
“We may be less than a year as a football club in Nigeria, but we are determined to change the dynamics as regards transfers of young talents in the country.”
Grassrunners FC is a recently established Nigerian club plying their trade in the Nationwide League (NLO), the third-tier division of Nigerian Football.
Following a series of trials with numerous European clubs last year, both youngsters seemed primed for a move to Austrian Bundesliga side SK Sturm Graz. However, TSG Hoffenheim swooped in to secure their services. It is a huge move for the promising youngsters who have been standout performers at the club.
Emmanuel Chukwu and Precious Benjamin will join compatriot Gift Orban at the Bundesliga club. Orban completed a permanent move to the side at the start of the winter transfer window from Olympique Lyonnais.
