After releasing her debut EP two years ago, Ilaye regrouped with her forces within and came out with a banging body of work.
From the first song, Figment, Ilaye’s voice breezes through the speakers and hits soothingly with that soft vibe. After which we are swiftly taken to a groovy place with YKTV ft. Lady Donli, a calm danceable song. Flame, the 54 seconds tune is laced with subtle lyrics before we move right to the complicated love song, Don’t ft. Show Dem Camp. With Don’t, neither party wins in the back and forth, but it allows for you to root for either side all the same. The use of repetition in the chorus of Regardless makes the lyrics sink into your person without even realizing it, so much so, you don’t want the song to end. And last but not the least – Closure, what better title to the last song of an ep than this. A wrap up to the journey you have been taken on through this body of work.
This six-song EP is an embodiment of love, hurt, growth, confidence, forgiveness, and a bunch of other things. A perfect blend of alternative, R&B, afro-pop and soul tones, this EP was produced by the Sirbastien, much loved Remy Baggins and talented Goldkeyz.
