Into the Void

Ayomide Kazeem who is formally known as KZM or Kzmvoid, is a 20 year old Nigerian Hip Hop Artist. KZM grew up in Lagos, Nigeria; attending both primary and secondary school before relocating to Canada to study Business and Finance in University. His sound can be classified as thick, melancholic, and gentle. A fusion of RnB and trap beats with a laid black flow.

KZM has always adored music, stating that he used to practice making music on his own as young as 7. He then began to go to music lessons behind his grandmas’ family home, eventually progressing to where he is now; mixing and recording tracks himself. Music has always been a point of focus anytime he thinks back, even among his other interests which include designing clothes and playing video games.

In terms of why he makes music, KZM talks about music being his peace. For him, finding harmony with sound where music is a medium through which he achieves relaxation but also reflection. It is a huge part of his person. Having people then subscribe to this sound, listen to his words and relate? A blessing he doesn’t’t think he could ever finish thanking God for.

When creating, his process is very dynamic as making music is a new journey every single day according to KZM. As he learns, he’s adding to his sound, improving and refining the process. Often he records alone as he believes it lets him focus better and access his ability to express himself without any distractions. However, he does record with friends or collaborates from time to time.

Unlike other artists, KZM states his source inspiration as himself. Understanding where he wants to be, envisioning his goal, comprehending what it takes to reach it and then manifesting it into reality. This is not from a place of pride or ego, rather its from the perception that every artist has their own unique sound, embodying someone else’s or trying to be like them is not ideal for him. Establishing himself as his own person is the goal. This is not to say that he does not have artists that he admires, however the word inspire connotes to a meaning of a copy cat.

KZM constantly wants to tell a story, giving his listeners an experience from his point of view; letting them feel, hear and perceive his emotions through the music. We at 49th hope to hear more from KZM and we hope do too! He currently has a music video out that recently dropped on Youtube. The link to the song itself is below! Enjoy!
