The interesting cross-cultural bromance between Cape Verdean maestro June Freedom and Nigerian hitmaker L.A.X. on their colorful video for their new duet, “Thing For You.”

Cape Verdean, Afropop artist and multi-instrumentalist June Freedom, has delivered the music video to “Thing For You” featuring labelmate L.A.X. The vibrant record shows the pair trading bars serenading a love interest and the accompanying visual features synchronized dancing and vibes that encapsulates a perfect start to summer.

The “Thing For You” video was produced and directed by Edgar Esteves of Blank Square Productions (Ice Spice, Nicki Minaj, Davido, Coi Leray, JPEGMafia, etc). Freedom’s scenes were shot at the California Sand Dunes, while L.A.X. was shot in Nigeria at Ado Awaye, Iseyin, Oyo State – one of only two suspended lakes in the world. On the video, June Freedom says: “I’d been wanting to shoot with Edgar from Blank Square for some time and I’m sure ‘Thing for You’ will be the first of many videos we do together! I love how the producers were able to capture my parts in the US and LAX in Nigeria and still make it look seamless.”

L.A.X. adds: “Working with June right from the EMPIRE recording studios in SF has been seamless. Our vibes and energy match and I am glad we were able to make this video happen. I am especially excited about the story behind both locations. The hike up that mountain to get those shots was no small feat so I am happy to finally be able to share this with everyone.”

“Thing For You” comes from EMPIRE’s first African compilation album Where We Come From, Vol. 01, which featured the artist roster including Kizz Daniel, Asake, Fireboy DML, Wande Coal, Olamide, BNXN, Bad Boy Timz, Kidi and more. The album garnered press praise from Billboard, Rolling Stone, Clash, Wonderland, and more. Earlier this year, Freedom released his Sweet Waters EP and L.A.X. released his third studio album No Bad Vibes.
