“Krazy Rymz is a talent. His music is easy in the ears and mind and this is a decent project you’ll definitely enjoy.”

NorNor Nation signee and frontman, Krazy Rymz, took another step in his promising journey, with this 4-track EP titled “Took Awhile.” Though his stage name might mislead one into thinking he is a rap artiste, Krazy Rymz is actually a gifted Afrobeats crooner. 2019 was his breakout year, during which the release of “My Matter” was met with positive reviews, multiple streams and downloads. With this project, he strives to build on the attention he has garnered and win over new fans.

A variety of subject matters are explored by Krazy Rymz on Took Awhile. On “Give Thanks”, he expresses gratitude to the higher powers for his progress so far, as well as reiterating his commitment to overcoming obstacles along the Hustle journey. On “Know Thy Self”, he preaches the importance of self-belief and self-reliance in the gruelling journey of life. “E Be You” is a message to an ex-lover he misses and longs for, while the last song, “My Way”, is a prayer for more blessings, as he makes his way through daily struggles.

His lyrics stay simple for the most part, but also do a good job of getting his message across. His choice of a reggae-type flow and lingo on “Give Thanks” makes that song particularly catchy. “My Way” is another song with an enjoyable flow.

A lot more variation in the choice of instrumentals would have done the project a world of good. It’s Afrobeats from top to bottom and the similarities in the sounds are a minus. This artiste definitely has the talent to sing on more genres than he did on this project. The background vocals and the overall production on “Give Thanks” gives the song a more robust and wholesome energy but that creative production is missing on other songs, which makes them sound all too familiar and cliché.

Standout Track: Give Thanks.
