Vincent Nnamdi Adolphus‐known by the moniker May Jay – is one of the latest Afrobeats artists to emerge on the scene. He gained his musical footing in the 2000s, around the same time—one of his biggest inspirations, Chris Brown was making waves. He didn’t commence studio sessions however, until 2010—when Wizkid, another artist who is also influential to his artistry, started to pop off.
As an Afrobeats artist, May draws influences from multiple genres of music ranging from Jamaican Dancehall to Hip-Hop. His brand new single, Holiday, produced by Freshy is a song that fuses May Jay’s dancehall affinity with subtle drill elements. The narrative on the song is simple and May Jay simply wants his love interest to bombard him with her love, as he intends to drown in the raunchy, sensual pleasures of her lustful contours.
Mayjay strongly believes that everything happens for a reason and the stars will pretty much align for the realisation of his dreams. He is also of the opinion that moving with precise direction in the industry yields better results, than chasing hits and temporary doses of fame.
