KVO, full name Oladiran Kelvin Abidemi, is an individual known in the creative space for his unique photography and amazing videos. Still on the list of his talents and abilities is singing and songwriting, and he has showcased that to the world through a number of singles and EPs in the past. Those who follow KVO will be familiar with his pattern of solid lyrics, neat hooks, and crisp music videos, all laid out on instrumentals that are representative of different genres.

The latest entry to KVO’s discography is “Odun”, a track that was released on the 30th of April, under the imprint of Bando Music. Clocking in at 2 minutes 51 seconds, “Odun” is comprises of Afrobeats sounds with a fusion of elements of R&B. The instrumental carries an entracing quality to it, the kind of sounds you lay back to while your mind goes on reminiscent or imaginative trips. The background sounds are layered perfectly, further accentuating this trippy effect and greatly giving the song a more complete and melodious feel. The production, mixing and mastering cannot be faulted at any point over the span of the track.

KVO decides to wear the cloak of frustrated lover on this tune. His lyrics speak of a man who is tired of the tricks and games, yet too deep in his feelings to just walk away, thus he swings back and forth between accusations and pleadings, anger and lust. It’s an interesting mix of emotions, and as conflicting as they are, KVO finds the situationship delightful (hence the title of song which translates to “it’s sweet” in English) and wants more. He deserves full marks for his lyrical content as he communicated his message clearly and meaningfully all through. The choice of flow and melody are also applaudable; he stays in sync with the instrumental and feeds off its energy to create a catchy hook and lovely verses. He even goes further to lace the song with backup vocals that elevate the overall quality of the music on offer.
