Abuja has been selected as the host city for the 68th UN Tourism Commission for Africa (CAF), scheduled to take place from June 11 to 13, 2025. The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy, confirmed its readiness to welcome tourism ministers, policymakers, and industry stakeholders from across the continent.
The 2025 CAF session will convene under the theme “Boosting the Social Impact and Education in Tourism through Innovation, AI, and the Creative Industries.” Organizers aim to spotlight strategies for harnessing digital technologies and creative sector partnerships to drive sustainable tourism development, enhance skill-building, and foster cultural exchange across Africa.
During a courtesy visit from a two-member UN Tourism Commission delegation, Minister Hannatu Musa Musawa reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to ensuring a seamless and impactful conference. She highlighted the occasion as “a unique opportunity to strengthen collaboration and drive the shared vision of sustainable tourism development across Africa.”
The event will be hosted at the Transcorp Hilton Abuja, with registration and badge collection opening on June 10, ahead of the official start. Day one will launch with an opening ceremony and keynote address, followed by the CAF’s working sessions. On June 12, a thematic conference will feature panels on public–private sector best practices for digital entrepreneurship, AI-driven tourism solutions, and creative industry innovation.
Nigeria’s tourism sector stands to benefit significantly from hosting CAF, as global attention focuses on its rich cultural heritage, emerging creative hubs, and diverse landscapes. The meeting offers a platform for knowledge exchange, investment opportunities, and the forging of new partnerships that could drive visitor arrivals and boost local economies.
Online registration is open through May 26, 2025, via the UN Tourism website, where delegates can secure participation, arrange airport transfers, and book technical visits. Accreditation desks will operate on-site one day before the conference for badge collection and final confirmations.
