Nigeria’s Flying Eagles defeated hosts Egypt 4–1 on penalties to secure third place at the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations after a 1–1 draw in regulation time.

Egypt opened the scoring early through Osama Omar in the 3rd minute, but Nigeria responded just after halftime with a composed finish from Bidemi Amole. Both teams pushed for a winner, but the match ended level, leading straight to a penalty shootout.
The Flying Eagles were clinical from the spot, converting all four of their kicks, while goalkeeper Ebenezer Harcourt made two crucial saves to seal the win. Adamu Maigari was named Man of the Match for his standout defensive performance.
This marks Nigeria’s fifth bronze medal in the tournament’s history and secures their place at the upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup.
