Talented Nigerian teenager Ifeoluwa Adewale Olowoporoku has secured a move to Swedish top-flight side IFK Goteborg. The 16-year-old is expected to link up with the Swedish side when he turns 18 in July 2026 from the famed Triple 44 Football Academy in Ibadan, Nigeria.Â
The highly rated midfielder gained widespread recognition when he became the youngest player to feature for Nigeria’s U17 national team, the Golden Eaglets, during the 2023 CAF U17 AFCON held in Algeria.
Olowoporoku was the subject of interest from a number of European Clubs. Ultimately, Swedish top-flight side IFK Göteborg emerged victorious in the race for his coveted signature.Â
Olowoporoku is an attacking midfielder with a strong preference for the number 10 position. He is skilful, and he excels at creating space in tight spaces. He is blessed with excellent vision. The prodigy has earned comparisons to Nigerian football legend Austin Jay Jay Okocha.Â
Malick Yalcouyé’s success with the IFK Göteborg has allowed the Swedish side to pay more attention to the pool of talents in the African continent. The Malian midfielder became the Swedish club’s record transfer sale following his transfer to Brighton FC in the summer of 2024.
