Omah Lay Joins Burna Boy & Rema in the 1 Billion Spotify Streams Club

Nigerian music star Omah Lay has achieved a major milestone as his debut album Boy Alone surpasses 1 billion Spotify streams. Originally released in July 2022, the album includes chart-topping singles like Soso (285M+ streams), Understand (169M+ streams), and Attention featuring Grammy-winner Justin Bieber (110M+ streams).

A deluxe edition followed in June 2023, adding six new tracks led by the hit Reason, which has also crossed 110 million streams. With this achievement, Boy Alone joins an elite group of Nigerian albums to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify. This list includes Rema’s Rave & Roses and Burna Boy’s Love, Damini, and African Giant.

This feat cements Omah Lay’s place as a leading voice in Afrobeats’ global expansion. He recently made headlines again with his Davido-assisted single With You, which set a new record for the biggest opening day on Spotify Nigeria.

Rising to fame with his debut EP Get Layd, Omah Lay has become known for his emotive lyrics and distinct melodies. Now, three years after his debut LP, he’s gearing up to release his sophomore album Clarity of Mind, which he revealed was remade after another artist allegedly copied its original concept.

With this new milestone, Omah Lay continues to solidify his impact on the global music scene.
