Nigerian-born Cyprus-based artist, Emmanuel ‘Ozushi’ Ubele announces the release of his EP Out is In. Ozushi’s songwriting is a noteworthy feature that pervades the entire project. He waxes lyrical over alternative beats, often characterized by a dialogue-soul infusion. This cements the status of the project as art.
Ozushi asserts that the inspiration for his sound essentially comes from everything around him. From the sounds of the city to the vagaries of life experiences. This is further amplified by the mood of the project even as it wafts from one song to another.
He touches sensitive topics with this work, while seeing OII as a goodbye note to his naive and puerile self. In certain ways, the EP frees him from any emotional baggage he may have carried from past failed relationships.
This is not just another melancholic project as songs like ‘Ada’ and ‘Vanilla’ will certainly bring out the jive. There’s something about Ozushi that is indescribably different — and with his newest project, he’s discovered what most musicians spend lifetimes working for — the place where feel-good music meets passion and purpose.
