Singer Albertium introduces himself to the wider audience with this 5-track EP, Albertiumville 1, on which he flexes his singing and songwriting skills to very creative and aesthetically pleasing effect.
Albertiumville starts with “Letter Of Gratitude”, an opening prayer of sorts with which thee artiste gives thanks to the Most High for his highs and lows. He keeps the lyrics simple and straight to the point, and hopefully his producer gets a letter of gratitude sometime in the future for bringing out Albertium’s good voice with this solid production work.
Track 2 is titled “Plan” and Albertium enlists the help of fellow singer Sonyboy on Afrobeat instrumental. The lyrics are predictably love-themed and this is a vocal match made in heaven as both artistes’ voices blend very nicely indeed. This makes for a very catchy tune sure to get a couple spins on any playlist.
Albertium moves us along to “Want”, our first foray outside the Afrobeat genre. The beat is a hip-hop sound this time and full credit to whoever made this for setting up an aura of intensity for the listener. It’ll be a big shame to miss on such a good beat and thankfully Albertium delivers nicely. He alternates verses with rapper Jazyblac, a formula that works very well for them. The lyrics, which focus on talk about love and desire, are on point and the flow both artistes employ matches the energy of the instrumental really well.
Next up is track number 4, “Medara (Remix). It’s a return to Afrobeat sounds but this time the tune is a more danceable one. Singer Eric Osas is featured on this loved theme track with lyrics promising love that will last a lifetime. The production work remains solid on this entry.
The EP closes our with “Miss You”, on which Albertium croons about missing an ex and desperately wanting her back. With his great voice and good lyrics, Albertium is sure to make an emotional connection with listeners on this song.
