PROJECT REVIEW – TOBEH ET NARVANA

Nigerian Singer-Songwriter and Performing Artist, Akunne Tobechukwu popularly known as NARVANA.

He is an artiste with a distinct blend of Rnb, Afropop, Highlife, and Reggae sound complemented with a unique songwriting ability.

From releasing his first single in 2016,  a song titled “Play hard” to his third official single “Don’t stop” becoming a groundbreaking hit in the University of Ibadan in 2017. He plays the Guitar and is also a budding Music Producer.

On June 13, 2020 ,Narvana dropped a two song project and here’s our review of the body of work.

Starting of the EP is Laye which is soulful, bouncy and full of energy. A song reminiscent of Nigerian music in the early 2000’s. Lyrics shuffle between personal triumphs and everyday struggle. The unorthodox flow and rhythm contribute to the deft delivery on this song. Worries is a slightly more subtle track. Taking on a slower cadence and tone , going back and forth over his struggles as an artist , what was expected of him from his family academically and him not being able to deliver. The feature verse from Astra P was perfect for the track and the sign out dialogue shows how much Narvana believes in his music. The EP was impeccably produced by Davic entirely.

Narvana’s two track EP shows a deep hunger and passion to succeed in the music industry. Although still at the early beginnings he has shown potential to stand his ground and carve a lane in this industry.
