RECAP OF THE #49THTWEETCHAT WITH SGAWD

49th

Here’s a recap of the 49thStreet TweetChat with SGawd, enjoy!

49th Street: Hey, how are you doing today? #49thTweetChat

Sgawd: Great thank you. Enjoying the feedback from my new single. Yourself?

49th Street: Tell us a bit about the creative process behind the creation of your new soulful and beautiful single “Feel Right” #49thTweetChat

Sgawd: I had always fantasized about having a song with the goated DOZ so when I met @macdaddydoz for the first time in October/Nov 2019, Feel Right happened. I reached out to @mafenimafenimaf for a verse and he came THRU. It felt amazing to share my vulnerability and feelings.

49th Street: When did you start making music and who are your biggest inspirations/Influences so far? From (@Billy2K_) #49thTweetChat

Sgawd: The defining moment for me was in 2015 when @GJtheCaesar_ and Ishayar were in the studio recording and Caes pushed me to go into the booth. I listen to everything but I’ll say LaurynHill, Erykah Badu, India Arie, Musiq Soulchild, Jodeci, Korn the list goes on.

49th Street: In addition to having such a soulful voice, you’re able to drop the hardest of bars on a rap or trap beat. Which comes more naturally to you? Singing or rapping? #49thTweetChat

Sgawd: Haha I always get this question. Both come naturally. It’s the same way with drawing or journaling. I have a way with words and if I have something to say, I’ll say it. Picking between singing/rapping depends on my mood and the energy I’m bringing on the record.

49th Street: Besides music what other creative fields might we see you venture into in the future? #49thTweetChat

Sgawd: Honestly, I don’t know. But never say never, I can do a lot of things, just recently picked up designing my own clothes again, super excited about that. I guess I’ll keep sharing what I deem fit as time goes on.

49th Street: Should we expect your debut project anytime soon? #49thTweetChat

Sgawd: I’d say expect more fire music and features from me. I’m gonna be experimenting a lot with my sound and I can’t wait to hear what I come up with before the debut project. But the project will definitely be worth every second.

49th Street: What African Artistes would you consider your biggest influences? In your life and the kind of music you make. #49thTweetChat

Sgawd: I listen to a lot of Asa, Sade, Keke Phoofolo, Lucky Dube, Brenda Fase, Bucie, Liquid Deep, Duncan Mighty, Desperate Chicks, IllBliss, Machala and Davido.

49th Street: Being an independent artist can be challenging, how do you navigate the murky waters of the industry? #49thTweetChat

Sgawd: Omoooo real o. I believe in getting the job DONE. It’s hard but it will always get done and thankfully now I have a team of people who believe in me and see the vision enough to also invest their time and efforts into helping me and giving me all the information that I need.

49th Street: how has moving back to Nigeria been? Tell us a bit about your adaptation process. #49thTweetChat

Sgawd: Still haven’t adapted or moved back fully cause I ran back to Miami in March and will run again. Nigeria is a different kind of challenging. Woke up the hustler mentality in me that had been dormant for a while. I’m grateful to be closer to family, friends and music too.

49th Street: If you could make a collaboration project with two female artistes right now in the country. Who would you have on it? #49thTweetChat

Sgawd: @nayaakanji and LunaLovesYou.

49th Street: It was amazing having you, the 49th wish you great success ahead. #49thTweetChat

Sgawd: Thank you!!! This was really fun. Can’t wait to share music with you guys.
