Here’s a recap of #The49thTweeetChat with Spaceship Collective Producer, Telz.
49th Street: @_telz Hey Telz, how are you doing this evening? #The49thTweetchat
Telz: I’m good, thank you.
49th Street: @_telz Can we get to know more about you? Who is Telz really? #The49thTweetchat
Telz: Well my name is Alli Odunayo. I’m a music producer. I should be practicing Accounting lmao.
49th Street: @_telz From skipping Accounting to production full time, can you take us through your journey so far? #The49thTweetchat
Telz: I never wanted to do Accounting. I always liked music so when I finished uni I knew what I had to do. It was hella rough though.
49th Street: @_telz Seeing how rough it has been for you, congrats on being a rocketboy now, how did you link up with Burna Boy? #The49thTweetchat
Telz: Through @Bujutoyourears ππΏ
49th Street: @_telz You’ve been producing on the underground scene for Laime, Zarion and many more. How has that experience helped to grow you into the producer you are now? #The49thTweetchat
Telz: Working with @Laimeonly & @playzarionuti was a blessing. They helped me understand the relationship between the artist and the producer.
49th Street: @_telz You almost quit music. What was going through your mind at that period? #The49thTweetchat
Telz: Nothing was working out anymore. I remember charging someone 20k for a beat so I could clear my head, lmao. I knew I wasn’t where I was meant to be.
49th Street: @_telz My Question for Telz is what was his reaction when he met Burna Boy or received a message from him for the first time. (From Only1Ohis)
Telz: Literally a jaw-dropping moment. You know when you don’t believe you’re somewhere but you’re there.
49th Street: @_telz What was it like working with some of the producers you listened to growing up on Twice as Tall? The49thTweetchat
Telz: Surreal! Especially @OfficialLeriq. Big love to him ππΏ
49th Street: @_telz Which song off the Twice as Tall album did you enjoy making the most? #The49thTweetchat
Telz: Wetin dey sup.
49th Street: @_telz Congratulations by the way, you co-produced 2 songs with Timbaland and Diddy. How was that process like and how did it come about? #The49thTweetchat
Telz: We sent the stems for mixing then one day Burna sent me the songs. I had no idea what had happened and I tell you I almost broke my phone when I heard them!
49th Street: @_telz For some, it’s porn killer, others say born killer, can you categorically tell us the story behind the tag “Funkula”? #The49thTweetchat
Telz: Producers had tags you know. I needed one so I was going through a couple vocal samples and I found “Funkula”.
49th Street: @_telz With producers like GuiltyBeatz & Sarz dropping individual projects, should we expect something from you? If yes, will it spotlight some of your guys from the SoundCloud days? #The49thTweetchat
Telz: For now, no. Maybe in a couple of years or weeks π
49th Street: @_telz Apart from production, what other interests do you have? #The49thTweetchat
Telz: I play FIFA a lot. I love watching shows. Others I can’t say π
49th Street: @_telz For those of us deeply interested in your growth and potential new fans, what should we expect from you moving forward? #The49thTweetchat
Telz: Expect a lot man. There’s more music coming.
49th Street: @_telz Abule is a very beautiful song, how did the song come about with Patoranking? #The49thTweetchat
Telz: I was gonna throw that beat away cos I made it last year July and obviously sounds have changed. It was one of the last beats I played for him and immediately he heard it, he came up with “make I tell you wetin happen for Abule”.
49th Street: @_telz Lastly before we end this, tell 2 truths and 1 lie about yourself #The49thTweetchat
Telz: I play the drums, I don’t lie & I’m very unserious.
49th Street: @_telz Thank you for doing this with us, have a nice evening and God bless you #The49thTweetchat Telz: Thank you very much ππΏ
