Hull City have announced the signing of Nigerian defender Semi Ajayi on a permanent deal from West Bromwich Albion. The defender put pen to paper on a two-year contract, with an option for a third year, marking an end to his prolonged stay with West Brom.
The versatile defender, capable of operating in the holding midfield, brings a vast repertoire of skills and a wealth of experience to the Yorkshire-based club. His familiarity with the league, pace, aerial prowess, and excellent ball-playing skills make him a bargain signing for The Tigers.

Ajayi leaves West Brom as a club legend, having amassed over 170 appearances in six seasons. His best moments in The Hawthorns’ show were in their 2019/2020 and 2020/2020 seasons, respectively. He spearheaded the West Midlands-based club’s promotion campaign to the Premier League in the 2019/2020 season and starred for them the following season in England’s top flight. Semi Ajayi revealed that his move was driven by his strong desire, personal & club ambition to compete at the highest level in the Championship.
The 31-year-old centre-back made his senior international debut for Nigeria in 2019 and has been capped on 43 occasions for the Super Eagles. Ajayi was the only Nigerian player who played every minute of the Super Eagles’ run to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final, where they lost to the Ivory Coast.
