Show Dem Camp Release Their New Album, Afrika Magik

By Aderinola Omotosho

Show Dem Camp just dropped their new album, Afrika Magik, and from the first listen, it feels like one of those projects that’ll stick with you for a while.

Ghost and Tec have always had a unique way of blending clever rap with that warm, laid-back Lagos vibe. Over the years, they’ve built a sound that feels both intentional and effortless, and Afrika Magik continues that story. It’s a project that reaches deep into African memory, pulling from everything that’s shaped their music: the poetry of highlife, the energy of Afrobeat, the calmness of palmwine music, and even the pulse of amapiano.

The 17-track album, spanning roughly 48 minutes, brings together a rich mix of sounds and collaborators. There are features from Tems, Moonchild Sanelly, BOJ, and Joey B, with production handled by GuiltyBeatz, Spax, Genio, and Yinka Bernie. Each person adds a different flavour, but it all blends seamlessly into what SDC have always done best — making music that feels honest and rooted.

Listening to Afrika Magik, you can tell the duo wanted to create more than just another rap album. It feels like a time capsule of African expression, filled with rhythm, emotion, and reflection. There’s a balance between nostalgia and experimentation, one moment you’re vibing to the groove, and the next you’re catching a line that makes you pause.

The details tie it all together: the interludes, the vintage-inspired artwork, the subtle nods to legends like King Sunny Ade, William Onyeabor, and Victor Olaiya. It’s clear that SDC wanted to honour the past while still moving forward. That’s probably what makes this album feel so complete; it looks back without sounding stuck.

For longtime fans, it’s another reminder of why Show Dem Camp matter. They’ve spent years carving a space where African rap can exist freely, without trying to sound like anyone else. And for new listeners, Afrika Magik is an easy entry point, a project that shows just how expansive and soulful their sound has become.

It’s more than a collection of songs. It’s a feeling. The kind of album that makes you proud to be part of the same generation that gets to hear it for the first time.
