Spotify Unveils Nigerian Global Impact List for First Half of 2025

Spotify has released its Nigerian Global Impact List for the first half of 2025, showcasing the top 30 Nigerian songs and songs featuring Nigerian artists that have resonated most with international audiences. The list, which measures global streams outside of Nigeria, reaffirms the nation’s powerful cultural export and the far-reaching appeal of its music across genres and generations.

Leading the charge is Rema with Baby (Is It a Crime), a soulful Afrobeats fusion track that samples the legendary Sade Adu. The hit has claimed the number one spot as the most-streamed Nigerian song globally so far this year, further solidifying Rema’s standing as an international force and building on the momentum of his album HEIS.

Notably, the list reflects the genre’s growing diversity. Gospel artist Lawrence Oyor makes a rare but impactful appearance with Favour, the only gospel track featured, signaling a broadening global taste for Nigerian music that transcends traditional boundaries.

Emerging talent also makes a strong impression. Rising stars Chella and Minz secured spots with My Darling and NUMBER ONE, respectively, the latter featuring Ivorian breakout Himra. Their inclusion highlights a new wave of international recognition for Nigerian artists who are steadily expanding the country’s musical footprint.

Women are also making significant inroads on the global stage. Ayra Starr’s All The Love and Gimme Dat, alongside Teni’s energetic anthem Money, mark a continued rise of female powerhouses shaping the narrative of Nigerian music and pushing boundaries internationally.

Meanwhile, the genre’s veterans continue to command massive attention. Davido dominates with an impressive nine entries on the list, while Burna Boy follows closely with five. Their enduring popularity underscores a cross-generational admiration that keeps Afrobeats thriving worldwide.

This year’s Global Impact List is a testament to the vast range and international appeal of Nigerian music,” says Phiona Okumu, Spotify’s Head of Music, Sub-Saharan Africa. “We’re seeing both seasoned global talents and promising new artists making significant strides. It’s particularly exciting to observe Afrobeats not only dominating but also continually evolving, capturing the attention of a global audience. Spotify is proud to be a part of this movement.

With new voices rising and established icons still setting the pace, Nigerian music continues to break barriers and soundtrack moments far beyond its borders.
