Watching Fido talk about how his hit track ‘Awolowo’ was made, one can easily recognize that he is ready to deliver another hit song for his fans, whom he calls ‘OSHA FC’. It is a divine sign that Fido’s debut song ‘Awolowo’ is what spread his name across the country.
The song “Awolowo” has seen a remarkable surge in popularity, largely driven by its widespread use on TikTok, with over 104,000 posts featuring the sound. This viral trend significantly contributed to “Awolowo” reaching the number one spot on Spotify Nigeria’s Top 50 chart and Apple Music’s Top 100 Nigeria. The song’s success didn’t stop there; it also made an impressive leap from No. 38 to No. 19 on the official Nigeria Top 100 on Turntable Charts. Furthermore, “Awolowo” was the most streamed and Shazamed track in Nigeria during the third week of September 2024, highlighting its widespread appeal and resonance with listeners across the country.
Fido’s ‘Awolowo’ talks about him enjoying his favourite activity without caring about others’ opinions and, most importantly, letting us know he has the money, as the Yoruba word ‘Awolowo’ implies. The track’s chorus is so catchy that it is as addictive as Fido’s favourite plant. It is a track that you would subconsciously recite as you go about your daily activities.
With a co-sign from Kizz Daniel, we can’t help but guess that a remix of Fido’s ‘Awolowo’ hit is on the way, and we are eagerly looking forward to it.
