Nigerian talented artist Ogranya proves himself to be a dynamic force in music and film with his unforgettable debut in Afolabi Olalekan’s Freedom Way, which captivated audiences at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and was recently released in Nigeria. In terms of his discography, he is known for defying easy categorization. Over the years, Ogranya has masterfully blended Afrobeats, Soul, R&B, and Blues into a deeply emotive and resonant sound. His role in the film marked a bold expansion of his artistry, showcasing the authenticity and charisma that had already carved out a unique niche for him in the music world.

Hailing from Port Harcourt and born into a musical legacy, his father performed with “The Black Stones” in the ’70s. Ogranya brought a rich tapestry of influences to his music and cinematic debut. His songs wove together the soulful lyricism of Frank Sinatra, the guitar brilliance of Carlos Santana and B.B. King, and the vibrant energy of Elvis and The Beatles, all fused with the contemporary pulse of Afrobeats. His use of English and Pidgin English also creates relatable, immersive narratives that draw listeners into his world.
