by Reuben Adewale

With young voices embracing the sound and rhythm of the street, Sk1ll, a dedicated student of the music game, has taken a bold step on the journey to become one of the big names in the industry.

Growing up, Sk1lls frequently heard music from the house to school to his surroundings. Music was always present and available at his doorstep, which fueled his love for it. This passion led him to take a leap of faith and craft his own music.

Sk1lls  lives up to his name. With multiple skills in singing, songwriting, producing, and mixing, he is on the journey to becoming a valuable piece in the Nigerian music scene. His versatility sets him apart, and he brings a whole lot to the table.

But it doesn’t stop there. SK1LL has also blessed listeners’ ears with various covers of several hit songs, from joining the train of multiple covers of Wizkid and Wande Coal’s 2023 hit tune ‘Ololufe’ to covering of one of his all-time favorite songs, ‘Love Don’t Cost a Dime’ by Magixx. He has also covered ‘Asiwaju’ by Ruger, Joeboy’s ‘Contour,’ and many more, which further display the deep love he has for the music game.

With self-belief and affirmation, Sk1lls has blessed the world with his debut single, “Gbemidebe”, released at the end of the first quarter of 2024. In this track, he declares himself “the light of the world,” ready to shine forth to all listeners. The title of the song, “Gbemidebe”, translates to “Take me there,” hinting at the musical journey he is ready to take listeners on as they ride with him.

Despite having just one song in his music catalog, SK1LL’s future looks promising. We can expect more from this skillful musical sensation. For now, let’s soak up the vibes of his newest and first single, “Gbemidebe”
