Two rising stars of English football, Manchester United’s Amad Diallo and Nottingham Forest’s Taiwo Awoniyi, have been honored with the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Community Champion award for the 2024/25 season in recognition of their exceptional off-pitch contributions.
Amad Diallo
The 22-year-old Ivorian winger, who emerged from Manchester United’s academy, secured the PFA Community Champion accolade thanks to his work with the Manchester United Foundation. Over the course of the season, Diallo has participated in numerous outreach programs across Greater Manchester, including school visits, grassroots coaching sessions, and fundraising events for disadvantaged youth. His dedication to using football as a vehicle for social change earned high praise from club officials. “Amad’s humility and passion for community service have inspired countless young people,” said a Manchester United spokesperson.

Taiwo Awoniyi
Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi has also been celebrated for his tireless community engagement, despite a challenging season marred by injuries. The Nigerian international organized a landmark community meal in March, bringing together Muslim and Christian residents in Nottingham to share solidarity during Ramadan and Lent. Forest’s official announcement hailed Awoniyi’s “outstanding dedication to supporting local communities throughout the year”. The 27-year-old’s efforts have underscored the growing importance players place on social responsibility.

The PFA Community Champion award is presented annually to players who go above and beyond to uplift their local areas through charitable work, education, and inclusion initiatives. With both Diallo and Awoniyi leading by example, the 2024/25 season has highlighted the powerful role footballers can play beyond the pitch. Clubs and fans alike have applauded their achievements, affirming that true success in the modern game encompasses both sporting excellence and societal impact.
