Tems becomes Africa’s Most streamed Female Artiste on Spotify with over 2 Billion Streams

By Reuben Adewale

Right at the beginning of 2024, Tems attains an incredible milestone in her career by crossing two billion streams across all music credits on Spotify, including her discography collection.

From her breakout song ‘Try Me,’ to hit collaborations like the timeless summer jam ‘Essence’ with Wizkid, to ‘Wait for U’ with Future which samples her sparkling track ‘Higher’ from her debut EP, down to her contribution on Drake’s ‘Certified Lover Boy’ album in the track ‘Fountain’, as well as her writing credits on Rihanna’s first single in over six years ‘Lift Me Up’ for the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack, Tems has delivered perfectly both by writing and composing.

Her solid studio EPs ‘For Broken Ears’ and ‘If Orange Was A Place’ birthed hit songs like ‘Higher’ and ‘Crazy Things’ garnering millions of streams. Altogether, with her other songs and credits, she stands as the most streamed female African artist on the Spotify music platform. This achievement comes ahead of her debut album, which is expected in 2024. Two singles from the LP titled ‘Me and You’ and ‘Not an Angel’ were released in late 2023 after a productive two-year run since her last tape.
