New Music Friday Top Picks

The New Music Friday Top Picks #11

On the 18th of April, our speakers were treated to new music, ranging from Davido’s 17-track album to a fresh tune from Tim Lyre and more. Here are our New Music Friday Top Picks from the latest batch:

Davido – Anything

On Anything from Davido’s fifth album 5ive, he sings about overcoming every obstacle: “I put my life on this, for so long, as I dey I fit conquer anything.” The track mixes Davido’s personal journey with a groovy beat by Loudaa and Dayo Grey, all while celebrating strength and resilience.

F3line – Only You

Only You dives into the push-and-pull of romance, the rush of a new spark and the hesitation from old scars. The lyrics set a club scene where F3line describes a scene where two people locked eyes in a crowded room, and suddenly it feels like it is only them there, like it’s “only you” for the night.

Tim Lyre & Show Dem Camp – Economy

Tim Lyre links up with Show Dem Camp for Economy, a no-nonsense anthem about stacking cash and staying sharp in Nigeria’s shaky economy. Punchlines like “my guy pass the bar, and he turned into a trapper” and “alagbara sure power, shower me blessing” hit hard over KC Freely’s clean production.

17, ODUMODUBLVCK & Ramz – Hop Out

17, popularly known as Alex Iwobi, the footballer, teams up with ODUMODUBLVCK and Ramz on Hop Out, swapping bars about culture, flexing lifestyles, and paparazzi. The track’s pure mix of energy from ODUMODUBLVCK, 17 & Ramz syncing up easily like footballers on the pitch.

Rexxie & Rybeena – Egbami

Rexxie’s gritty, fast-paced beat sets the tone for Rybeena’s sharp Yoruba flow on Egbami. He rides the rhythm with “Egbami,” meaning “help me” in Yoruba, as he sings about the interesting and surprising things happening in street life.
