The New Music Friday Top Picks #12

This new week of music releases was packed with bangers and soft tunes to keep your vibe going all day. Here are our New Music Friday top picks.

Shallipopi & Burna Boy – Laho II

The song of the year just got bigger! Shallipopi and Burna Boy reunite for Laho II, a fiery sequel that proves their chemistry is untouchable. Fans first lost it when Burna Boy teased the track during his electric Manchester show, and the hype exploded again at his stadium concert in France. The track blends Shallipopi’s gritty vibe with Burna’s signature swagger, creating an anthem that’s impossible to skip.

Ayra Starr feat. Wizkid – Gimme Dat

Ayra Starr and Wizkid are back! After dropping a sun-kissed snippet that broke the internet, Gimme Dat is finally here, and it’s smoother than butter. Their second collaboration (after 2 Sugar) doubles down on laid-back romance, with Ayra’s velvety tone floating over Wizkid’s buttery verses. It’s a love song for late-night drives, perfect for anyone craving that Afrobeat magic. The way they trade lines about love and good vibes? Chef’s kiss.

Runtown – Do Me

Runtown is back to flex! On Do Me, he glides over a bouncy Caleb Mayowa Alaba beat, bragging about his lifestyle and the girl who wants to do him literally. This song reminds us why he’s still the king of luxury Afrobeats vibe. The track’s addictive groove feels like a VIP party in your ears, slick, confident, and catchy. Runtown’s flow? Effortless. The production? Rich enough to make you feel like you’re sipping champagne. It is important to know that this song sticks in your head for days.

FOLA feat. Kizz Daniel – Lost

FOLA and Kizz Daniel are here to serenade your soul. Lost is a lover’s anthem, with FOLA crooning about messy relationships while Kizz Daniel drops his signature heartthrob verses. FOLA previewed the track earlier last week in a video of him and Wizkid nodding along to it, and if Wiz approves, you know it’s fire. The blend of FOLA’s moody vocals and Kizz’s smooth delivery makes this a late-night playlist staple.

Minz feat. Jacquees & Oxlade – FU 2

Minz isn’t playing around. FU 2 cements his title as Afrobeats’ sexiest act, with Jacquees’ silky R&B hooks and Oxlade’s raw vocals adding layers of tension. Minz called the track “unhinged,” and he’s right; it’s bold, sultry, and dripping with confidence. The trio’s chemistry is one for the books, thrilling and impossible to forget.

Tiwa Savage – You4Me

Tiwa Savage flips Fabolous & Tamia’s classic Into You into a soft-kissed banger. You4Me is all about that one guy who makes her heartbeat race, and her voice oozes passion over sleek, mid-tempo beats. The Yoruba-infused hook adds spicy local flavor, proving Tiwa can blend old-school R&B with Afrobeat flair like nobody else.

Aisosa – Hold On

Aisosa’s first solo drop of 2025 is a masterclass in hope. Over Moxie Yanke’s house-inspired beats, he belts out uplifting lyrics about pushing through tough times. His powerhouse vocals soar, turning the track into an optimistic-meets-club anthem. Whether you’re grinding toward goals or just need a pep talk, Hold On hits like a warm hug from your bestie.

Joey B – Suzzy William

Joey B goes hard on this drill banger, shouting out late Nollywood star Suzzy William in the track title and sampling Ofori Amponsah’s Honey. His rapid-fire bars paint a vivid picture of a demanding girl while the gritty production keeps your head nodding. It’s raw, nostalgic, and proof that Joey B can turn street stories into art.
