Na-Ku, also known as Bad Mood, or Tears, is a musician; whose work cannot be confined to genres. His pallet for creation flows in whichever direction he feels. When creating, a genre is not on his mind. As long as he approves of the sound, it is part of him.

Na-ku grew up in Lagos, Nigeria. Currently, he lives in England, where he’s pursuing a post-grad. Na-ku started making music as leisure, just fun with friends that didn’t have much meaning. In 2015/16, he and his friends decided to make a mixtape. One of his friends had access to a studio, allowing him to create a song with two of his best friends.

That song was the only song that ended up being recorded that day. However, it would later be his first release. Na-ku already had a love for listening to music and anything musically included. Nevertheless, when writing his verse, writing his friends, getting in the booth and listening to what they had created? It made him realize that he adored creating music too.

Speaking of creating, Na-ku isn’t strict about his process. it all depends on the song and how it came to be. Sometimes he could write along to a beat and record. Other times he has an exact idea of how he wants the song to sound. Additionally, creating a song could be in the heat of the moment. Fitting for his exploratory persona. Furthermore, Na-ku cites that when he is trying to be meaningful, he tries to comfort, be relatable or soothe his listeners.

Asides from his love for music, Na-ku is a gamer and loves playing basketball. He’s also an artist; he draws and paints. It is not surprising that Na-ku has another creative focus in his life. However, this love for art does not surpass his fondness for music. Na-ku says he wouldn’t want a world without music. He understands it as an extension of himself, what makes him who he is.

Moreover, Na-ku discusses what inspires him; good musicians. He states, “They always push me, especially when it’s niggas around my age or from where I’m from. Make me feel good.”
