With Afrobeats getting more international acclaim in recent years, the quality of music from this part of the world is at an all-time high. While superstars like Burna Boy and Wizkid are leading the charge on the worldwide front, there are amazing artistes on the homefront doing their bit. These are three artistes that should be on your radar:

Ninety:

Although his name is Ninety, he always keeps it a 100 on his songs. The dreadlocked Nigerian singer burst onto the scene in March, 2021 with his sleeper hit, Touch & Follow. A sultry Afropop number, Touch & Follow showcased Ninety’s songwriting skills and ability to ride a beat.He switched up the tempo on Somebody, his latest single released on August 6, 2021. Produced by Grammy-award winning producer Telz, Somebody is a funky Afrobeat jam that is an indication of Ninety’s versatility. Ninety has a lot of music to offer, in the coming months.

Moliy:

Moliy’s 2020 offering, Wondergirl, an EP of six songs established her as one of Ghana’s most exciting talents. However, she only came onto our radar when she featured on not one, but two songs on Amaarae’s critically acclaimed album, The Angel You Don’t Know. Her performance on Sad Girlz Luv Money stands out as one of the high points of the album. Moliy followed this up by delivering a breathtaking hook on M.anifest’s hip-hop collaboration with Ghanaian-American rapper Vic Mensa titled ‘No Fear’. If you are a fan of Amaarae, you should check out Moliy. Listen to her latest single Deja Vu here:

Kemena:

A singer, songwriter, producer and sound engineer, Kemena is the complete package. His 2020 album “Bond”, was one of the best Nigerian albums of the year. Coming from a relatively unknown artiste at the time, that is quite impressive. The fact that he produced and engineered all the tracks on the album bar one, makes it an applaudable feat.Kemena has gone on to feature on WeTalkSound’s LOFN 4, also producing a few songs off Vader The Wildcard’s latest EP “To Be Frank”. Kemena is gearing to release his second studio album.
